Long distance, time for perfection
The golden roots of the long-distance racers are the van Wanroy line together with the distinguished Kleine Donkere, best cock of the Netherlands WHZB in 1979. Another magnificent breeding cock is the Black Giant, winner of the 1st National Bergerac in 1995 and many other top prizes in the national races. He emerged at high speed into a fantastic breeding cock that produces National Ace- and top pigeons into many generations. Katja, a crossbreed between Jan Aarden (Witbuik line) x van Wanroy is a fantastic breeding hen as well. Offspring of this magnificent hen, who won 1st National Bergerac, win many a first prize at the overnight long distance races.
At Hans Eijerkamp and Sons' lofts these lines are crossed with the old 'own' racing- and breeding lines. In these pigeons we find the bloodlines of Westerhuis, the Cobut and last but not least the old lines of Van der Wegen and Jan Aarden. In addition to this, Hans Eijerkamp has always been looking for the best racing pigeons alive. For a lot of money he bought National winners such as Red Rising Sun, 1st National Dax, the Bergerac '94, the national winner of Bergerac in 1994, Bonfire 1st Nat NPO Brive etc. Another spectacular move was Juwelier, 1st Provincial Ace pigeon VNCC Long distance 2004 and bred from a granddaughter Black Giant. Also the great Asterix was put for breeding after a successful racing career at the Eijerkamp lofts. This great cock was 3rd National Ace pigeon long distance of the Netherlands 2004 and he won a.o. 3rd National St Vincent. Champion Tiλsto was International winner of Perigueux in 2005 against 18,533 pigeons in the private loft of Henk Jurriens and is father and he was bred from the old Van der Wegen lines. The 2005 sensation in the long distance for sure was Salinero. He was winner of 2nd National NPO Perigueux and 1st National and 1st International Bergerac 2005 within 3 weeks time. Salinero is a pure Wijnands and son cock and searching for a good hen for this crack Team Eijerkamp also visited Harry and Roger Wijnands in Maastricht. Piet Schrijvers, Henk Jurriens, Evert-Jan Eijerkamp and his father were that enthusiastic about this quality that they bought in 2006 35 youngsters direct from the top breeders as well as two rounds of eggs in 2006 and 2007 from the very best racing birds. At the Eijerkamp lofts these birds will be crossed to the great long distance lines of the Tiλsto, Salinero, Black Giant, Kleine Donkere, Juwelier, Van der Wegen , van Wanroy. Greenfield Stud in Brummen houses now children of the great Wijnands and Son birds: Pozatto, Witneus, Blauwe Brouwers, Late Simpson, Red Simpson, Gimondi, Duiker, Gouden Barcelona, Blauwe Roger, Bettini, Ballerini and many many more. The Wijnands and Son pigeons are all based on the best lines of Van der Wegen, Gebr. Kuypers, Theelen. In the winter 2007 Wijnands and Son made a total auction of all their old birds and the auction turned out to be a huge success. In average the birds were sold for 2.600, - and the highest amount was paid for Champion Witneus who was sold for 43.000, - while the National winner Bordeaux, Pozatto who was sold for EUR 33.600,-. After the sale the demand for these birds became extreme especially again after the International victory Barcelona by Danny Vagenende with a 50% Wijnands and son bird who was bred out of a daughter from the Duiker. Hans Eijerkamp again proofed that he had a special nose for 'special' pigeons for good pigeons. The first crosses with the Wijnands and Son pigeons in 2008 and 2009 already proven to be a success as these yearlings showed that their genes have it just in them.
Drogba, 1st national Ace pigeon long distance of the Netherlands WHZB Drogba is the great new champion in the present long distance colony. As a yearling this top bird won 325th Nat. NPO Perigueux against 6,500 pigeons and 4,087th Nat. Bergerac against 17,160 pigeons. In 2006 he astonished pigeon sport - loving Netherlands with 3 absolute top prizes. With these 3 achievements he was proclaimed 1st National Ace pigeon long-distance of the Netherlands WHZB 2006.

After careful consideration they only organized long-distance races at the Greenfield Stud with afternoon releases, so that a set of six races was scheduled. Since 2008 also 16 pairs sent on the natural system while the yearlings were raced as priest just for training and selection. In 2008 also 7 birds were basketed for Pau as all assumed it was an afternoon release. However the birds were liberated in Pau at 11 hrs.
