Race Report: Issoudun (664km) - Eijerkamp-Paalman
Despite the loft’s day-long distance racing team still being under development, Eijerkamp-Paalman entered 34 pigeons for the Issoudun race.
Initially, the weather forecast looked promising with a southwesterly tailwind on Saturday, offering an excellent opportunity for the pigeons to prove their mettle. However, due to rain along the flight path, the race was postponed to Sunday, when the wind shifted to a challenging northeasterly headwind.
Given the loft's location, this headwind posed significant challenges for the pigeons. As a result, only 13 pigeons returned to the loft by evening. Fortunately, most of the pigeons made their way back home the following day, demonstrating resilience despite the tough conditions.
This experience highlighted that more work is needed to build a strong team capable of handling such long distances and headwinds.
In Section 9 South, the following prizes were won: 13, 27, 36, 56, 64, 81, etc., against 1,112 pigeons.
