Team Eijerkamp-Wolf; 1. Ace pigeon Golden Algarve Race 2024

Monte Gordo, Portugal – During the first weekend of October, a historic moment unfolded in the world of pigeon racing: ‘Tarzan,’ a pigeon from the Eijerkamp-Wolf partnership, was crowned the 1. Ace Pigeon in the prestigious 2024 Golden Algarve One Loft Race. Out of 6,999 competing pigeons, 'Tarzan' emerged as the best after seven grueling races, including the final, securing the Ace Pigeon title in Europe’s largest One Loft Race and winning €50,000. For Simon Wolf and the Dutch duo Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp, this victory was the fulfillment of a long-held dream.

A Friendship Born from a Shared Passion
The success story of the Eijerkamp-Wolf team began years ago. Simon Wolf entered the world of pigeon racing around 2013, immediately seeking top-quality birds. He invested in pigeons from Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp, receiving expert guidance from Henk Jurriëns. This proved to be a wise decision: Simon Wolf quickly achieved major success, including winning the European Championship in Mira in 2016 with a 50% Eijerkamp pigeon. In 2017, he won the semi-final in the same Mira race, followed by numerous other triumphs for his Alp Race Team. Based in Switzerland, Simon focuses exclusively on One Loft Races due to his busy work schedule. His success deepened the friendship between Simon, Henk, and later Hans and Evert-Jan. In 2022, the friends decided to collaborate on One Loft Races, exchanging pigeons and embarking on joint breeding projects—culminating in this historic victory at the Golden Algarve race.

The Pedigree of a Champion
‘Tarzan,’ bred in Simon Wolf’s loft, is the product of a breeding partnership between two exceptional pigeons: Simon’s ‘Thomas 1’ and Eijerkamp’s Golden Manu"Golden Manu" ‘Thomas 1’—the father, grandfather, and great-grandfather of many One Loft Race champions—has an illustrious lineage. He is a full brother to ‘Thomas 6,’ who won the 2018 Golden Algarve final with an extraordinary 24-minute lead and was later purchased by Mike Ganus to breed an impressive line of winners. Both ‘Thomas 1’ and ‘Thomas 6’ are descendants of the legendary ‘Romario’ of Hallmann, considered one of the finest breeders in One Loft Races. Simon Wolf built a winning dynasty with two direct descendants of ‘Romario,’ consistently achieving top results.

On the maternal side, Golden Manu"Golden Manu" was purchased by Eijerkamp in Brummen from Gerard Koopman. She is the daughter of the renowned ‘Manu,’ who won two national races in challenging weather conditions on one-day long-distance raced.Golden Manu"Golden Manu"has proven her worth as a breeder time and again. In addition to 'Tarzan,' she is the mother of multiple successful pigeons, including several Ace Pigeons. In 2023, Team van der Pasch bred the 3. National Ace Pigeon Allround WHZB from one of her daughters.

A Dream Realized
For both Team Eijerkamp and Simon Wolf, ‘Tarzan’s’ victory marks the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream. Winning the 1. Ace Pigeon title in Europe’s largest One Loft Race is a testament to the friendship, passion, and collaboration between the two parties. "This is just the beginning," they say with great excitement.
And that belief seems justified. 'Tarzan's' nestmate, entered by Simon and his wife Eveline, placed 96. Ace Pigeon in the same race. The outstanding performances of these pigeons highlight the strength of the 'Thomas 1' and 'Golden Manu' bloodlines. With 'Tarzan's' victory, the Eijerkamp-Wolf partnership has firmly established its place in the history of pigeon racing. The skies over Portugal brought not just wind, but also glory and fame. This story of friendship, genetic excellence, and a pure passion for pigeon racing has reached a peak—and the future holds even greater promise.
