Eijerkamp descendants shine in Australia at Fawcett and Jackson

In Australia, the descendants of Eijerkamp pigeons are achieving remarkable success. Despite the complex import procedures and long waiting times, dedicated fanciers spare no effort or expense to bring these top pigeons to Australia. One of the most successful lofts is Group 1 Lofts, managed by Tim Fawcett and Geoff Jackson, in Adelaide. With a strong foundation in the Leo Heremans-Ceusters bloodlines, they achieve outstanding results within the South Australian Homing Pigeon Association (SAHPA). Their base is bred from descendants of Eijerkamp pigeons via Greg Hamilton and Jamie Ennis. Below is an overview of some of their impressive performances in 2024 for T. Fawcett and G. Jackson;

Coober Pedy Open Race (726 km) 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 against 1,199 pigeons
Tim Fawcett proudly shares: "In the Coober Pedy Open race (726 km), we entered 30 pigeons and secured 11 places in the top 25 against 1,199 birds. Seven pigeons arrived simultaneously at the loft, setting a new SAHPA record. This earned us the trophy for the most outstanding achievement of the season."
‘Bella’ (SA23-220) and ‘Melania’ (SA23-402) arrived together and jointly won the race. ‘Bella’ was also crowned 1. Ace Pigeon SAHPA and is a granddaughter of ‘Super Hero’ (NL09-1836053NL09-1836053), the only son of Euro"Euro" X Hera"Hera" ever imported to Australia.

The 4.-place (SA23-331) winner is a granddaughter of two direct Eijerkamp breeders: NL19-1412427NL19-1412427 (Son Olympic Leo"Olympic Leo" X Uniek"Uniek") and NL19-1412526NL19-1412526 (Daughter Luka Modrić"Luka Modric" X Nisrina"Nisrina"). This pair had already proven their value as the grandparents of the 1. Ace Pigeon Gold Coast 50000 OLR 2021 on behalf of Jamie Ennis and Dave Wetering.
The 5.-prizewinner (SA23-336) also bred from a granddaughter of this breeding pair, ultimately became 2. SAHPA Acepigeon.

Successes with ‘Nieuwe Olympiade’ descendants
‘Millie’ (SA23-315) won the Twins Open (610 km) against 1,169 pigeons and secured multiple top rankings. She is a daughter of ‘Lachie’ X ‘Bloom,’ with ‘Lachie’ being a son of ‘Lachlan’ X ‘Bonnie’ – a pair closely tied to the Nieuwe Olympiade"Nieuwe Olympiade" bloodline originally bred at former champion Greg Hamilton. ‘Lachie’ (SA21-14459) won himself 1. SAHPA Pimba in 2023 (412 km) against 2,873 pigeons and he bred 2 winners in the 2024 season for Fawcett and Jackson.

‘Aphrodite’ (SA22-9385) won 1. SAHPA Bookaloo (330 km) against 2,101 pigeons and is a full sister to ‘Lachie’ and ‘Candice.’ This makes her the third Open SAHPA winner from the top breeding pair ‘Lachlan’ & ‘Bonnie'. ‘Lachlan’ is bred from a brother of Nieuwe Olympiade"Nieuwe Olympiade" when paired to a daughter of the Nieuwe Olympiade"Nieuwe Olympiade"

‘Ivy,’ SA22-9286, one of the best racing hens in Australia, has achieved multiple top rankings and is now retired to the breeding loft. She is inbred to Nieuwe Olympiade"Nieuwe Olympiade"’ with her grandsires being ‘Angus’ and ‘Lachlan,’ both grandsons of this legendary pigeon.
The best results for ‘Ivy’ SA22-9286 are;
3. SAHPA Glendambo Open (493 km)            2,271 pigeons 2024,
5. SAHPA SDC Stirling Nth No 2 (250 km)      1,837 pigeons 2024,
6. SAHPA SDC Stirling Nth (250 km) 2024     1,298 pigeons 2024,

‘Melanie’, SA23-23402, won 1. SAHPA Coober Pedy (726 km) against 1,199 pigeons and is also a granddaughter for ‘Lachlan’ X ‘Bonnie’.

A Special Breeding Pair: ‘Son Olympic Hans’ X ‘Daughter New Ché’
In 2019, Jamie Ennis acquired two exclusive Eijerkamp pigeons

These two pigeons were paired together, creating an exceptional breeding couple and grandchildren from this top couple raced superb at Tim Fawcett and Geoff Jackson;

  • ‘Maeve’ (SA23-17309) won 1. Glendambo Open (492 km) against 2,271 pigeons.
  • ‘Sheridan’ (SA21-14499) won 2. Coober Pedy Open (726 km) in 2022 and is also a grandson of this pair.
  • ‘Lady,’ (SA22-13965) a daughter from this lineage, won 1. SAHPA Stirling North (249 km) against 1,298 pigeons and 2. SAHPA Stirling North against 1,837 pigeons.

Conclusion
The success of Eijerkamp descendants in Australia once again proves the exceptional quality of these bloodlines. Through strategic breeding choices and strict selection, lofts like Group 1 Lofts and other top Australian fanciers continue to dominate. The legacy of champions such as ‘Euro,’ ‘Nieuwe Olympiade,’ ‘Olympic Hans,’’Uniek’ and ‘New Ché’ lives on in the achievements of their descendants on the other side of the world.
