    Last Wednesday Leo Heremans the creator of the Heremans-Ceusters strain was a guest at Greenfield Stud in Brummen, visiting with Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp and the entire Eijerkamp team. He had been invited to evaluate the Heremans-Ceusters breeding pairs and to see whether or not he thought the pairs fit together. Who better to judge the pairings than the grand master himself?     Hans & Evert-Jan Eijerkamp will be present at the Kassel show to be held on November 6 and 7. This exhibition is the largest pigeon show in the world and fanciers from all over Europa will attend this market in which over 300 exhibitors will show and demonstrate their products.

    Evert-Jan Eijerkamp and Henk Jurriens made a trip to China in the middle of August for 8 days. Evert-Jan Eijerkamp also accompanied by his two oldest daughters Lotte and Fleur. For them it was their first visit to China. Since 1994 Hans Eijerkamp en Sons explored already the Chinese pigeon market and with this they certainly were one of the first.

    From august 1st 2010 Team Eijerkamp calls themselves ‘Hans & Evert-Jan Eijerkamp’ … No longer Hans Eijerkamp & Sons? “For a reason,” Evert-Jan Eijerkamp explains, “Next to our busy occupations running the furniture store, we all have our own priorities how to spend our very limited leisure time. For my father and me that priority is pigeons, with great passion we run our pigeon team; Hans-Jaap chose otherwise. Very logical therefore we’ve chosen to change the name.”

    After his great victory by winning 1. National Cahors against 4.887 birds and 2nd International against 6,817 birds the “Black Cahors” now moves back to his place of birth, the Greenfield Stud in Brummen. After seeing this great cock Hans and Evert-Jan decided to buy this National winner back because of his victory in the race and also because of his pedigree.

    It has become a normal thing as One-day-distance, Top 10 National and Team Eijerkamp are going hand in hand now already 8 races in a row! The latest One-day race from Chateaudun turned out to a real Eijerkamp happening in which the train didn‘t stop and at the end 3 pigeons ended up in the Top 10 National NPO. From the 88 pigeons entered 65 prize cards were won.

    Friday night 32 pigeons were basketed for the Middle distance race out of Peronne (332 km). All 32 birds, out of the Total Widowhood loft, were prepared calm at this day as the remaining pigeons already were entered on Thursday evening for the One-day-distance race from Chateaudun.

    In the last couple of weeks the train is really on the move at Hans Eijerkamp and Sons with nearly all week”s birds in the top of the lists. After “Jori” won last week the first Top 10 National NPO this week only the birds in the Total Widowhood section were entered for a race from Breuil le Vert (403 km). For that 48 birds were released at 7.30 hrs with an east – south east wind.

    The first NPO One-days distance race is laying behind and with this also the first Top 10 National result won by Hans Eijerkamp and Sons. It certainly wasn’t the best and honest race in this season but still ‘Jori’, a two year old widowhood cock winning 1st in Region 2 against 2,548 birds as also the 3rd Nat. NPO Orleans against 6,626 birds.

    At the last Short-distance race of the 2010 season, ‘Damien’ just been beaten by 1 second which remains him Silver against 7,262 birds. Just shortly before the start of the season, Evert-Jan considered to put ‘Damien’ for stock as he was suffering a mould sickness at his nose (see picture below).
