Homma Brothers, Ydo and Elco, Steggerda

Ydo and Elco have experienced a fantastic start to the 2012 season, having won the first 3 races in their very strong club in Noordwolde. They also had two victories in ACG8 of the Friesland Section. Not only did they win these races they also had a strong series of prizes, these were the best races of their young pigeon career. Over the last three years many pigeons from Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp moved in the direction of Steggerda. Now in 2012 it has become clear that the Eijerkamp pigeons have provided a great injection of quality for them. Not only the direct Eijerkamp pigeons are performing tremendously but also the children of these pigeons are racing superbly. Amongst their 2012 young birds there are again a large number of Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp pigeons. That the Eijerkamp pigeons played a large part in two of their victories is obvious but also thanks to several tips they received from Gerard Boesveld. Race result to this point: 07-04 Wijchen: 1,5,7,23,34,45,46,81 etc. against 2,033 pigeons (13 prizes out of 26 shipped) The first pigeon was also the 6th against 20,055 pigeons. 14-4 Boxtel: 1,5,9,13,14,15,30,31,34,36,75,76,78,79,100 etc. against 2,235 pigeons (22 prizes out of 27 shipped). On this race the prize percentage of Eijerkamp pigeons was very large: the 5th 15th 30th 36th 76th and 79th prizes were won by direct Eijerkamp pigeons! The 31st was won by a half Eijerkamp pigeon. 21-04 St. Truiden: 8,13,14,40 etc. against 2,171 pigeons (13 prizes out of 28 shipped) Several of the Eijerkamp pigeons that have shown themselves in these races: NL11-1165163 a hen Her mother is the NL10-1273595 is an Eijerkamp-Snelheid (short distance- speed) pigeons and was bred out of “Zoon Fabio” (a van Loon out of “Fabio” x “Hera”) and “Lady Manus” (an Eijerkamp-Janssen out of “Manus” x “Natasha”). “Natasha” is a daughter of “Porsche Bond” and “Lady Jumbo”. • Early pigeons and Bad Luck!!

    Early pigeons and Bad Luck!!

Luck and disappointments usually don't lie too far apart and that proved to be the case during the 2nd race of the season for Team Eijerkamp. The pigeons for Duffel were released at 9:25 hours and at 10.52.41 "Leanne" crossed the antenna at the home loft. Soon after her the next pigeons dropped and after the second pigeon was clocked at Evert-Jan's widowhood loft misfortune struck as the rest of the pigeons were not registered by the clocking system. Despite furious attempts to clock the pigeons over other antennas and rebooting the clocking system several times all attempts to clock another pigeon failed. Meanwhile the pigeons dropped 3-4 at a time and there was nothing else to do but desperately, madly and very disappointedly watch the pigeons come home from this "training" flight. They were undoubtedly early birds because "Leanne" won the 1st prize against 1,368 pigeons in the CC Zutphen and in Region 2 she was 7th against 5,932 pigeons. This followed last weeks' 2nd prize for her from Geel against 5,835 pigeons. "Joaquim" won the 15th prize against 5,392 pigeons in the Region and the 3rd prize in CC Zutphen, but naturally they were the only two pigeons on the result.

The best performances of Eijerkamp progeny are rewarded!!

Besides our own results the results of our pigeons at other lofts are also very important to us. This information helps us to further strengthen our breeding lines and allows us to give our clients more in depth advice. We are just as proud of a good performance of a descendant of our pigeons as we are of the good performance of one of our own pigeons. We want to give special recognition for these performances and therefore we will make available €7000.00 in pigeon vouchers. In the months of May, June, July, August and September €1000.00 in pigeon vouchers will be offered for the best performances of Eijerkamp pigeons and/or their descendants. We will divide the €1000.00 into 3 vouchers of €500.00, €300.00 and €200.00. Each month the references sent to us will be evaluated and the three winners will be published on our website. The winners will be calculated using a special formula so that everyone, worldwide can compete for these vouchers. Subsequently, these vouchers can be redeemed at our on-line web shop. For all those who sent in reference, from October to April, we will draw for a €300.00 voucher. This allows us to show our appreciation, for the performances submitted to us, throughout the entire year. The only thing you have to do is provide us with the performance, along with sufficient information, of an Eijerkamp progeny, preferable with a good photograph. The references sent in will naturally be placed on our website, if sufficient information is provided. You can find how to send us your information, via a digital form on our website, or you can send it by e-mail or just an ordinary letter. We eagerly await your submissions. Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp

Great start of the new 2012 season

Good start for season 2012 The season 2012 kicked off at the lofts of Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp, Saturday April 14, with the first official race from Geel (133 km). After a hectic period during which the long distance lofts, which were destroyed by a storm, were being rebuild, the preparation of the race team was short but intense. Under the inspiring leadership of Gerard Boesveld beginning in January the racers were paired in different groups and in March the pigeons were allowed to take their first laps in the sky above the Greenfield Stud. Hens out of the Olympiade loft and the widowers out of Evert-Jan’s loft were entered, for a total of 76 pigeons. In Region 2 (of Section 8 GOU) a total of 5,835 pigeons were assembled for a release from Geel at 10:25 hours. At long last the Unikon peeped for the first time when “Leanne” NL11-1341752 a yearling Heremans-Ceusters hen, crossed the antenna at 12:09:16 hours which give her a speed of 1277.942 mpm. Shortly afterwards the “Blauwe van Myrthe” NL10-1274286 signalled that she was home, it took a while before the next pigeon reported above the lofts.

  • The New Long Distance Loft is now officially open.

The New Long Distance Loft is now officially open.

We have regularly posted news on our website about the new long distance loft that has been built. In 2011 Hans and Evert-Jan decided that they wanted to race from Barcelona. As this discipline requires a specific approach, plans were made for the ensuing years; a special accommodation would form a very important aspect of the plan. There was an empty 40 meter loft and it was decided to renovate it and make it suitable for housing a long distance team.
