KING GEELOGER 1. National Ace Young Birds 2026 – A NEW STAR FROM THE EIJERKAMP–DOUNA PARTNERSHIP

Six years of friendship, trust and top-class pigeons gives us:

16. Kerkrade against 4,036 pigeons
47. Weert against 13,906 pigeons
84. Boxmeer against 14,024 pigeons

Some collaborations in pigeon racing are about buying a few youngsters. Others develop into something much more special.

For six years now, Henk Douna from Donkerbroek has been the "satellite loft" of H. & E.J. Eijerkamp in the far North of the Netherlands. Every year, around 10 to 12 youngsters leave the breeding lofts at Greenfield Stud in Brummen and travel north to Henk’s loft in Donkerbroek.

What has developed between Henk and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp is far more than a simple exchange of pigeons. They are very close friends since 1970, speak to each other constantly and share an incredible amount of passion for the sport. Evert-Jan is not only a supplier of quality pigeons, but a coach, sparring partner and someone with whom Henk can discuss virtually every aspect of the racing season.

And perhaps most importantly: they have an enormous amount of joy together.

Henk races on a deliberately small scale. His loft consists of just 24 old birds, 12 breeding/racing pairs, and a limited number of youngsters. His philosophy is simple: quality over quantity.

That philosophy has produced some extraordinary results.

 King Geeloger

From Ireen to Frisian Geeloger

One of the key pigeons in the story is the legendary Ireen"Ireen".

In 2022, Ireen became Henk Douna’s 1. National Ace Pigeon Sprint PIPA, an exceptional achievement that marked one of the highlights of his pigeon racing career.

Ireen was bred from two Eijerkamp pigeons and her exceptional racing class was quickly recognised. After her racing career, Ireen returned to the Eijerkamp breeding lofts in Brummen for a special breeding partnership.

There, she was paired to one of our very best Eijerkamp breeding cocks: Geeloger"Geeloger".

The result was a son with a very appropriate name: "Frisian Geeloger NL25-1096999NL25-1096999", referring to the Frisian roots of his mother Ireen.

But the story did not stop there.

A special pairing

Frisian Geeloger was paired to Stacey"Stacey", a beautiful hen from the famous Willem de Bruijn lines.

From this combination came "King Geeloger" NL26-8475526NL26-8475526.

On 25 March 2026, King Geeloger travelled north from Greenfield Stud together with 11 other youngsters to begin his racing career at Henk Douna’s loft.

There was hope. There was expectation.

But nobody could have predicted what would follow.

A sensational debut

King Geeloger immediately announced himself as a pigeon to watch.

From Eefde, he raced to an incredible 2nd prize against no fewer than 13,352 pigeons.

Later in the season, King Geeloger added another phenomenal performance, winning 2nd Provincial Rethel against 4,780 pigeons. In the entire Northern Section, he finished an impressive 5th against 8,793 pigeons.

What makes his season even more remarkable is the versatility behind these results.

King Geeloger was not simply a short-distance specialist. He also produced absolute head prizes from races of approximately 410 and 440 kilometres.

A youngster with speed, but also with the strength to keep performing when the distances increase.

Two National Ace Pigeons in one season

The icing on the cake came with the 2026 rankings.

Henk Douna ended the season with two National Ace Pigeons.

King Geeloger became 1. National Ace Young Pigeon PIPA Ranking 2026, while also finishing 3. NPO Young Pigeon category.

And the pedigree makes this achievement even more special.

King Geeloger is a grandson of both Geeloger"Geeloger" and Ireen"Ireen".

Two proven Eijerkamp breeding legends coming together in one youngster, racing at a small loft in Donkerbroek and immediately producing results at the highest level.

Henk himself summed it up perfectly after the season: he was not only incredibly happy with the results, but deeply grateful for the cooperation with Team Eijerkamp and, in particular, Hans and Evert-Jan.

A partnership built on trust

This is perhaps what makes the story of King Geeloger so special.

Behind the result is a six-year partnership. Ten to twelve youngsters each year. Endless telephone calls. Discussing races, preparation, breeding and selection. Sharing ideas. Challenging each other.

And always with the same goal: to enjoy the sport and see what exceptional pigeons can achieve.

King Geeloger is another chapter in that story.

A youngster bred in Brummen.

Raised and raced in Donkerbroek.

And a beautiful example of what can happen when Eijerkamp quality, Henk Douna’s racing system and a close friendship come together.

The future of this partnership certainly looks very exciting. Soon you can read more about Xandra!
