Karel Jurissen wins 5. Prize Final Viking OLR with grandchild Bonte Geeloger!
On September 6, 2026, the final of the Viking Pigeons OLR in Sweden was held over 332 km. In an extremely demanding final, Karel Jurrissen achieved an impressive 5th place in the first drop, with his pigeon NL26-8490044 "PalomBlue". The race started with 1.203 pigeons.
This result is particularly impressive considering the exceptionally difficult circumstances. Strong winds made the originally planned route impossible, and the release location had to be changed. The liberation was also postponed slightly because of the severe wind conditions. All decisions were made in close consultation with the FCI controller, Bas van Beveren.
Despite the difficult circumstances, approximately 79% of the pigeons returned from the demanding final, and the pigeons came back in good condition.
A Top Result in a Tough Final
Karel Jurrissen was full of praise for the organisation after the race: "A big compliment to Goran Trailovic of Viking Pigeons Race for the very well-organised final."
He described his pigeon as a "super pigeon", which finished 5th in the Viking Race 2026 Final with very strong wind.
A Granddaughter of the Bonte Geeloger
