Today we waited for the pigeons in temperatures that made one think of January rather than the end of April.
With a chance of showers on the route home and a stiff northerly wind, there wasn’t a chance that the birds would fly fast today.
We anticipated that the first pigeons would fly somewhere between 1,250 and 1,300 mpm.
We had 142 pigeons in the race and were full of hope.
This week we used an other system to get the arrival times on the website. The new system wasn’t perfect, as after the first pigeon it took awhile before the rest of the arrival times came through.
Meanwhile the pigeons came home one right after the other, even though after the first pigeon was clocked, a few minutes went by before our second pigeon went through the trap.

We would not have dared to dream, that we would end up with such a super result on the NPO l race from Nanteuil.
Winning first of the entire Section against almost 4,500 pigeons is simply formidable. And that with a child of the Nieuwe Olympiade"Nieuwe Olympiade" and grandchild of Ché"Ché", is the icing on the cake.
After all the difficult race with the youngsters, this was a super result.

Today was the day, the first young bird race. Not a Saturday we have looked forward to with a lot of enthusiasm the last few years. With the number of losses, the last several years the young bird race have turned into anxiety races. Whether the youngsters are 100 % healthy and well trained or not, doesn’t seem to make any difference. The race for us went as you often see, the first 15 minutes lofts of pigeons, then a few more and then nothing.
Beforehand we had determined to take a middle road by only sending the youngsters cared for by Joke. That Joke has been well taught by Martin can be seen by the result, could be seen when the final results were published, since placing 1 through 4 in the Region is most certainly an unequalled result

Today was for many of young birds the day of truth. Last week we only flew few of our young bird team and now they all had to go. We had shipped 147 under our name, Hans and Evert Jan Eijerkamp and 84 under Lotte Eijerkamp.
One came all by itself and 8 more followed shortly, but to our consternation the clocking system failed on the loft where we had clocked 1 through 4 in Regio last week. The pigeons came tremendously, but the technical setback diminished our excitement considerably.
The reason for the failure still has  to be traced down.
Despite the pigeons not being clocked on one loft we still had a prize percentage of 49%.

Today was the close of the middle distance races for this unsettled season with a race from Nanteuil le Haudouin. As has happened so often this year the release was not early, resulting in the pigeons arriving home late in the afternoon.
Despite the weather , which wasn’t super, the pigeons came home like clockwork, one after the other.

The closing race of the old bird season was held from Blois. This race was organized by the Northern Union and didn’t count for anything in our section.
Naturally we were wondering if the performance from Issoudun could be maintained and our pigeons would fly for another cracking result.
After the first pigeons were home it became clear that the Ché"Ché" descendants were really racing well.
Three granddaughters of Ché"Ché" and a granddaughter of Claudio Ché"Claudio Ché" at the front showed just how good the Ché"Ché" line is and what these pigeons can do from the dagfond races.

We knew before hand that the weather conditions would determine whether or not we would have a race today. The skies were covered by heavy clouds and there was a steady drizzle in the southern part of Holland and Belgium.
We had doubts as to whether or not the pigeons could be released today. But when Zuid Holland released their pigeons in Quievrain everyone thought that perhaps the weather conditions were getting better. When it took more than two hours before next pigeons were let up in Quievrain it was clear that conditions were far from good. Our pigeons weren’t released till 12:50 and we knew that  this race wouldn’t be over in just a few minutes, we would be clocking for awhile and we were right.
This was a race that could be placed in the "weird" category, the birds were slow coming home. After an hour we had 89 of the 136 shipped home, that says enough.

We knew the release committee would have a difficult weekend a day or two ago. A weekend having the first dagfond race and also having a short distance race was asking a lot from those responsible for making the release decisions.
The conditions at the Niergnies release point were the least difficult as the committee was able to let the birds up at 10:55 am.
The arrivals from this race would give us an indication what to expect from the dagfond race, which was brought back from Gien to Melun, that is a shorter station.
