Another outstanding performance by our youngsters came in the 5th young bird race of the season from Gedinne (249 km). Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp entered 102 youngsters and, by the end of the day, the team had won no fewer than 80 prize cards. Leading the team once again was a grandchild of the famous 'Geeloger'.

Our first-arriving youngster was beaten only by a few youngsters from the renowned loft of Dennis Hammer. NL26-8475461NL26-8475461 'Geeloger Fire' narrowly missed first prize by just 17 seconds now winning 6. position against 3,101 pigeons

This promising youngster was bred from 'Samuel', a son of Geeloger"Geeloger" and Lady Hawk"Lady Hawk", paired to Firefly"Firefly" the outstanding hen that won two first prizes in our own loft and was introduced into the breeding loft for the first time this season. 'Firefly' is a daughter of 'Olympiade Stefaan"Olympiade Stefaan" paired to the last daughter ever bred from our foundation cock Vetblauwe Jackpot"Vetblauwe Jackpot"

This was already the fourth prize card of the season for 'Geeloger Fire', who has been among the very best from the opening races:

  • 6. Gedinne against 3,101 pigeons
  • 7. Tienen against 3,654 pigeons
  • 19. Heusden-Zolder against 1,783 pigeons
  • 40. Reusel against 3,234 pigeons

The young bird race was shortened to a distance of 133 km due to the extremely high temperatures across Western Europe. Despite the shorter distance, the race was postponed on Saturday because of the many thunderstorms and heavy rain. On Sunday morning, the pigeons were finally released in Heusden-Zolder at 09:30 hrs for the 133 km race.

At the end of the day, the team of Hans and Evert-Jan Eijerkamp had won an impressive 55 prizes, including yet another victory with their young bird team. This time it was NL26-8475319NL26-8475319 "Steady Grizzle" who claimed 1. prize in Region South against 928 pigeons and she is daughter for Steady Euro"Steady Euro" when paired to "Pikachu", both super racers in our racing team and now very good breeders in the breeding loft.

The first Speed/Natour race of the season resulted in a true bombardment of Eijerkamp pigeons with no fewer than 64 prizes in the first 100 against 2,851 pigeons, it was an exceptional result, with Eijerkamp-Paalman making a major contribution.

Alongside several old birds, Arnold Paalman also entered his young birds for this race. The combination won an impressive 126 prizes with 161 pigeons entered, starting with 3. in the Region and 2. in the Section, achieved by a direct pigeon from Gustaaf Boeckmans. In that same Section, no fewer than 65 Eijerkamp-Paalman pigeons finished among the first 100.

The team in Brummen also performed very strongly and Hans and Everrt-Jan started with 6. prize in the Section, with 5 pigeons finishing 1:100. The fifth pigeon home was the outstanding "Next Geeloger", NL25-1094907NL25-1094907, who once again added another top prize to his impressive record. This superb pigeon is currently ranked 2. National Ace Pigeon World Best Pigeon Allround FCI 2026.
